No crowding Identify elements (point out things to expand on or add details in the longer descriptions) Straight lines (arrows can be tricky for kids to draw, they can also make the image look more messy) Short phrases/Single words (choose one) Longer descriptions/Sentences: (NODS) No crowding (Don’t try to write on top of the illustration) Open space (use large pieces of blank space below or next to drawings) Details/Describe (choose one) Sentences (you may not require full sentences, but this rule is just a reminder that longer thoughts should go into this form instead of crowding the drawing) Students may use the template below to have drawings and words next to each other.
